Guitar program at HUES

Friday, February 14, 2014

HOLLIS – North Main Music is launching a beginner guitar afterschool program at Hollis Upper Elementary School, beginning March 12.

The six-week program is for kids ages 8-12 years old and will be held from 3:15-4:15 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Students will learn how to pick, strum, do warm up exercises and play their favorite songs. The instructor will be Jeff Moore, co-director of North Main Music.

During the program, students may use either an acoustic or electric guitar. North Main Music has been providing a beginner guitar program in Bedford, for more than four years and many students who have started out in this beginner class have gone on to further advance their guitar skills through private instruction.

“We are thrilled to be bringing a beginner guitar program to Hollis Upper Elementary School,” Moore said. “It’s awesome to watch kids get excited about playing music – they truly grow and gain confidence through music.”

“The beginner guitar class is just the sort of program we like to host at our school,” said Candi Fowler, principal of Hollis Upper Elementary School. “Music education enriches kids’ lives and we’re pleased to be providing our students with this fantastic opportunity to learn guitar.”

Tuition for the Beginner Guitar after school program is $140 per child. Space is limited, so students are encouraged to preregister for the program. To register, or for more information, call North Main Music at 505-4282 or visit www.northmainmusic.com/
