Hollis-Brookline Rotary education scholarship applications due May 6
Friday, April 18, 2014
The Hollis Brookline Rotary Club announced the 2014-15 HBRC education scholarships.
Student scholarships are open to all graduating seniors who are residents of Hollis or Brookline and are:
1. From the Hollis Brookline High School or 2. Attending a high school in the area or 3. Home-schooled.
A total of $8,000 will be awarded this year to graduating high school seniors and to past-year winners of the scholarships who are currently in college.
For current high school students, two multi-year scholarships with a possible value of $4,000 each are available to seniors who plan to further their education. The award will be spread over a four-year period. Students are expected to maintain a good academic standing and also to be involved in community service in order to receive the scholarships in subsequent years.
One of these scholarships will be awarded to a qualifying student who is admitted to an accredited four-year college or university; the other scholarship will be awarded to a student who is admitted to an accredited vocational institution. In the event that a suitable candidate is not identified in a category, both scholarships will be available for award in the other category.
For application forms, check the Rotary website at www.hbrotary.org or send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline for the applications is Tuesday, May 6.
The Hollis Brookline Rotary Club meets each Wednesday at 7:15 a.m. for breakfast at the Brookline Event Center on Route 130.
