Nominate parents for award

Friday, January 11, 2013

CONCORD – February is Parent Recognition Month in New Hampshire. In the past five years, the New Hampshire Children’s Trust has honored 147 parents at the Statehouse in partnership with the governor’s office.

Deadline for nominations is Jan. 15.

This year, the group will celebrate 28 parents from around New Hampshire who are role models for their families and those around them with the sixth annual Unsung Hero Awards ceremony. Honorees will receive a framed certificate, a photo of their recognition and a gift bag with items donated by local businesses. Event sponsorship opportunities are available.

Parenting is a tough job. Think about the parents around you who deserve a little extra recognition.

Think of a parent or a caregiver you would like to have honored for the great things they are doing to strengthen their families and their communities.

Nomination forms are posted online at www.nhchildrenstrust.org/nominate.

Or simply write a letter due by Jan. 15, stating qualities you admire about this person and why this person is a role model to their family and others.

Email the letter to jday@nhchildrenstrust.org.

This nominee does not have to be a biological parent; they can be a grandparent, aunt, uncle, foster or adoptive parent.

They need to show dedication and love for their family through community or school efforts or at home.

The New Hampshire Children’s Trust is looking forward to another exciting event in 2013 when they will honor 28 parents for the 28 days of February.

View their heroes from 2012 and read about the celebration at www.nhchildrenstrust.org.

They are also looking for sponsors and gift bag donors to support the event. See website for details.
