Hollis girl wins geographic bee
Friday, January 18, 2013
Grace Lassila, of Hollis, was the fourth-grade winner at Applewild School’s National Geographic Bee. Students in grades 4-8 recently participated in this year’s competition.
The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject and increase public awareness about geography, according to the sponsoring National Geographic Society.
History and geography teacher Todd Goodwin organizes the program at the school in Fitchburg, Mass.
