Friday, January 25, 2013
Lights Up Drama School and the Hollis Recreation Department presents the spring 2013 Season of Developmental Drama, “Jungle Tails.” Feel the rhythm and excitement of the jungle. Literature comes to life with drama.
The 10-week programs take place at the Lawrence Barn in Hollis on Mondays, Feb. 4 to April 15, plus rehearsal Friday, April 12. Show is on Monday, April 15.
“Just So!” – The Play.
For 10- to 15-year-olds, runs from 3:30-5 p.m. Cost is $170.
An exciting, funny, updated, cool version of Rudyard Kipling’s “Just So Stories.” A magician conjures up some tricks and tales. Learn stage craft, characterization, create your own production. Warm up with theater games and improvisation. Beginners welcome. Open house/play reading on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 3:30 p.m. All welcome.
“Jungle Tails”
For 7- to 11-year-olds and runs from 5-6:30 p.m. Cost is $170
Students will be captivated by storytelling at its best. Act out a different drama and character every week from African princesses to funny monkeys, to swamp monsters, to Roald Dahl’s “Enormous Crocodile.”
The children will turn these beautiful stories into plays and explore new realms of their imagination with music, movement and poetry. They will present a show in the last lesson with the older group.
