Hollis/Brookline High School Results

The results of last week’s Hollis/Brookline High School sporting events.

Two Hollis/Brookline High School golfers finished in the top 10 of the NHIAA girls individual golf tournament at Campbell Scottish Highlands in Salem on Saturday.

Pareena Deva finished fifth overall for the Cavaliers, shooting an 85 over 18 holes. Deva recorded a 46 on the front and followed it up with a 39 on the back nine. Teammate Naomi Jefferson finished 10th, recording a score of 93, and shot a 40 on the back nine.

Sept. 24: H/B sweeps match

Griffin Brown shot an even-par 35 for medalist honors, and the Cavs (14-12) went on to win both portions of its tri-match against Windham (5-21) 155-173 and Milford (1-25) 155-196 at The Overlook. Matt Kozsan (39), Derek Bruinooge (41) and Brad Stowell (40) rounded out H/B’s scoring.

VOLLEYBALL

Sept. 24: H/B 3, Coe-Brown 0

Cassie Pelton and Hanna Mazzola served for 14 and 12 points, respectively, as the Cavs coasted to victory, 25-15, 25-7 and 25-15 in Hollis. Ashlee Daoust recorded six kills for H/B. Julia Stopera added four kills and Kendall Nicosia-Rusin chipped in with four blocks and two kills.

Sept. 28: H/B 3, Pelham 0

Kristyn Glover had 12 service points and 10 assists as the unbeaten Cavs cruised by margins of 25-14, 25-5 and 25-7. Noelle Kotelli added four points and four kills to the cause, while Ashlee Daoust had eight points and five kills and Sara Heard played well defensively.

Sept. 30: H/B 3, Hanover 1

The Cavs won 25-9, 25-12, 22-25, 25-20 over Hanover. Ari Creighton had 11 saves and four kills for the winners, who got eight serves from Katie Barrett, five kills and 10 serves from Julie Stopera and nine kills from Ashlee Daoust.

GIRLS SOCCER

Sept. 25: H/B 3, Con-Val 1

Amanda Gerlitz scored twice and Alicia Wilson added one to lift the Cavaliers to victory. Lindsey Vazquez and Gerlitz assisted on the goals, while Amanda Salamone had three saves in net for H/B.

Sept. 29: H/B 8, Coe-Brown 1

Amanda Gerlitz had two goals and four assists to lead the Cavs past Coe-Brown on the road. The Cavs got two goals and an assist from Alicia Wilson, as Emily Dutile and Alyssa Lovas had a goal and an assist each. Allison Walton and Jil Ackerly also scored for H/B, while Morgane Ciot and Alyssa Cappetta had assists. Amanda Salamone played well in goal for the Cavs.

BOYS SOCCER

Sept. 29: Coe-Brown 1, H/B 0

Derek Reilly stopped five of the six shots he faced, unfortunately for the Cavaliers, the one Coe-Brown goal that was scored midway through the second half was the only goal scored the entire game. Ian Powell had a strong defensive game in front of Reilly for the Cavaliers (5-3).

FIELD HOCKEY

Sept. 25: H/B 3, Con-Val 0

The Cavaliers held the Cougars to zero shots on goal and Nina Hawxhurst had a goal and two assists to lead H/B. Kaitlyn Sliger and Kayla Vandal also had goals for the Cavs. Alicia Papineau had two assists.

Sept. 29: H/B 5, Pelham 1

The Cavaliers had a balanced attack as five different girls scored in the win. Rachel Filer, Kaitlyn Sliger, Kayla Vandal, Nina Hawxhurst and Alicia Papineau all potted goals for the hosts. Lorin Field had five saves for H/B.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Sept. 29: Quinn wins

four-team meet

Sean Quinn ran to a first-place time of 17 minutes and 53 seconds, but the Cavaliers had to settle for second place as a team. Bedford won the race with 24 points, followed by H/B (55), Con-Val (75) and John Stark (76). Other finishing in the top 20 for the Cavaliers were Griffin Gagnon in sixth (18:31), Sean Flannery in ninth (19:01), Ansel Renna in 19th (20:04) and Zach McElwain in 20th (20:06).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Sept. 29 : Cavs fourth at meet

H/B used a strong fourth-place run of 22 minutes and 7 seconds by a sick Felicia Lombardi to grab second place as a team. Con-Val utilized the individual victory of Emma Bolduc (21:09) to win the team event with 26 points, followed by H/B (49), John Stark (73) and Bedford (80). Erin Guertin (fifth, 22:10), Emily Benz (10th, 23:27), Alyss Lombardi (12th, 23:29) and Sarah McDaniel (18th, 25:08) rounded out the Cavaliers top five finishers on the day.
