SOCCER. Heather Richardson of Hollis helped the Brewster Academy girls soccer team win the 2009 New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class C title on Sunday. Richardson, a sophomore fullback, and teammates defeated Groton School (Groton, Mass.) 2-1 for the championship, the team’s second New England title in three years.
The undefeated Brewster team earned the No. 3 seed in the Class C NEPSAC Tournament. In the quarterfinal match, Brewster defeated Pingree School (South Hamilton, Mass.) 2-0. The Bobcats then met the Wheeler School (Providence, R.I.) and came away with a 4-3 semifinal victory.
CAVS HOCKEY. The Hollis Cavaliers Mite 1 hockey team turned in an impressive performance, defeating Billerica Mites 6-5. The Cavs offense was lead by Isaac Rogers with four goals and two assists and Trent Costa had a pair of goals and three assists. Cavs forwards Kyle Hamilton and Shannon Paquette skated hard, while strong defensive performances was were turned in by Max Sears and TJ Vitullo.
• Isaac Rogers led the Cavs offensive attack with four goals, while Kyle Hamilton added two goals and Trent Costa had a goal and four assists. Excellent play was turned in by Austin Ciszek and Sean Kelly, who had had assists. The Cavs excellent defensive was led by Dean Poulin, who helped goalie Benjamin Goolsby shut out the Wolves.
•The Hollis Cavaliers Mite 1 team turn an impressive win over Malden/East Boston, winning 8-2. Isaac Rogers led the Cavs with six goals, while the other Cavs tallies were recorded by Trent Costa, who had a goal and three assists, and Kyle Hamilton, had a goal and one assist. Excellent performances were turned in by Max Sears, Shannon Paquette, Benjamin Young, Sean Kelly and TJ Vitullo. Cavs netminder Benjamin Goolsby turned in an impressive game in goal.
• The Hollis Cavalier Mite I team split its weekend games. In a hard fought battle against Acton-Boxboro, the Cavs lost 8-5. Isaac Rogers led the scoring for the Cavs with four goals. Dean Poulin had two assists and Austin Ciszek tallied the other goal for the Cavs. Excellent play was turned by Kyle Hamilton and Max Sears.
The Cavs stormed back with a tremendous team performance, defeating Winchendon Mites 5-0. Netting his first goal of the year was Benjamin Young. TJ Vitullo had two goals and an assist and Rogers also had two goals. Trent Costa turned in an outstanding performance between the pipes.
• The Hollis Cavaliers Pee Wee II hockey team defeated Dover, 3-1, in Granite State League action. Ian Birmingham had two goals and Nick Sengstaken had a goal and an assist. Devin Brickett added two helpers in the win.
The Cavs added a 9-0 win over Gardner. Nick Herbert recorded the shutout in goal while Alex Fagan and James Young. Cam Boisvert had three goals and four assists while Tyler Roberge had three goals and three assists. Evan Conners and Tyler Gouveia had a goal and two assists each. Evan Desklas had a goal while Brickett had two assists and John McPartlan also had an assist.
VOLLEYBALL. Volleyball clinics for boys and girls in third grade and higher will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sundays starting on Jan. 10 at Hollis/Brookline High School. Players will receive a volleyball, T-shirt, game whistle and six clinic sessions. For more information, contact Becky Balfour at 465-7525.
ATHLETIC TRAINER. Hollis/Brookline High School is looking for a New Hampshire Licensed, Certified Athletic Trainer for the 2009-2010 school year. FUND. The Coach Korcoulis Scholarship Fund, which is presented to an outstanding Hollis/Brookline High School male and female track participant at June’s graduation, is accepting donations. March 4 marked the third anniversary of beloved coach Elias “Lou” Korcoulis’ passing. Those wishing to donate to the scholarship fund in his memory may send donations to Coach Korcoulis Scholarship Fund, P. O. Box 4338, Manchester, NH 03108.
