Friday, January 22, 2010
Courtesy photo The Hollis girls Division III travel basketball team experienced its first win in two seasons on Jan. 10. Eleven determined and enthusiastic fifth-grade girls had a lot to celebrate. They had come close many times, but their first win was elusive. The Hollis team from the Manchester Suburban Basketball League successfully came out ahead with a score of 27-25 against a Barrington team they lost to just one night before. Members of the Hollis team include, from left, coach Will Collins, Kali S., Taryn C., Felicity R., Maggie O., Gracie S., Taylor H., Joanna B., Kaitlin J., coach Phil Balsamo and Hannah B. Missing from the picture is Haley M. and Naomi G. The girls are all in the fifth grade in Hollis and Brookline, and most of them have been playing together since the third grade.
