2012 Year in Review

Here are the top sports stories of 2012 in Hollis and Brookline.
No. 1: Wrestling champs
Hollis Brookline won its second wrestling team title, winning the Division II crown by two points over Milford.
No. 2: Robinson resigns
Football coach Milt Robinson decided to step down as varsity head coach after leading the program for all 10 years of its existence.
No. 3: Out on top
In coach Bob Zimmerman’s last game, the HB boys lacrosse team won the Division III championship. It was the second time the Cavs won the title under Zimmerman.
No. 4: Bowling title
The Cavaliers won the 2012 Division I bowling title, the first in program history.
No. 5: Almost perfect
The HB girls basketball team lost just once during the Division II regular season before getting upset in the quarterfinals. Senior Katie Stopera (pictured) scored her 1,000th point for the Cavs.
No. 6: Shootout loss
The Cavs boys soccer team lost twice in 2012; one of those was a 3-2 defeat to Windham in the D-II title game. HB scored late to force overtime before losing on penalty kicks.
No. 7: Upset alert
After finishing the regular season undefeated, the HB softball team was upset by 16th seeded Windham in the first round of the playoffs.
