Area woman marks her 100th

Bertha (Martin) Anctil Landry recently celebrated her 100th birthday with her family.
She was born in Salem, Mass., on Dec. 14, 1911. She and her family moved to Nashua at the age of 2. The lived in Hudson for a few years before moving to Nashua. Her extended family includes two children, eight grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was married to Albert Anctil on Sept. 2, 1935, and lived a happy life with him till he died in April 1972. During this time the family was co-owner of the Canal Street Market, which they sold around 1956. They subsequently bought and operated Pete’s Variety on Kinsley Street.
She married Uldege “Dave” Landry in September 1979 and lived a happy 12 years with him until he died in December 1991.
Other places of employment during the early years for Bertha include working in two of Nashua shoe factories and after the sale of Pete’s variety she worked at Hampshire Manufacturing. Most of all she is a loving mother, and if you ask friends and neighbors she is a friendly and warm person. She now resides with her daughter in Nashua.
Her family celebrated her 100th birthday at her daughter’s house with members traveling from Baton Rouge La., Syracuse, N.Y., Georgia, Bethel , Vt., Hollis and Nashua. She was also surprised to receive a birthday greeting from President Barack Obama from the White House.
