HOCKEY
Dec. 14: H/B 4, Con-Val 2
Jake Kobylarz scored with 4:16 left in the third period to give the Cavaliers a win in their Division III opener. Dan Ash, Kyle Berman and Ian Rowe also had a goal each while Tom Johnson, Cam Ricard, Jack Collins, Tim Birch and Ian McNamara all had an assist apiece. Jake Hahnl stopped 11 shots for H/B, which outshot the Cougars 14-1 in the second period, but still trailed 2-1 going into the third.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Dec. 13: H/B 63, Pelham 39
Katie Stopera scored a game-high 17 points, while Kellie Messer pulled down 13 rebounds to lead the Cavaliers past the Pythons on opening night for both squads in Hollis.
Rachel King chipped in with eight points. Jillian Gillis, Ellie Flaum and Amanada Balsamo added six points each.
WRESTLING
Dec. 7: H/B 37, Goffstown 32
Hollis/Brookline beat defending Division II champions Goffstown 37-32. H/B had key pins by Jake McPherson (138), Casey Quinn (182), Nate Ashe (195), Hunter Longland (220) and Zach Migneault (285). Eli Groves (152) and Gavin Shanley (160) also posted wins for the Cavaliers.
Dec. 10: Cavaliers third at Early Bird tourney
Hollis/Brookline finished third in overall team standings at the St. Johnsbury (Vt.) Early Bird Tournament behind first place Noble Academy of Maine and runner-up Colchester, Vt.
Winning an individual title for the Cavaliers was Zach McPherson (120 pounds), who beat Corey Roya from Spaulding, Vt. by a 4-3 decision in the finals.
Second place finishers included Zach Jennings (145) and Zach Migneault (285). Placing third for H/B were Ryan Ahlquist (126) and Eli Groves (152), while Will Labadie (132) took fourth place. Jake McPherson (138), Brandon Rocha (160), Austin Bumpus (170), Nate Ashe (182) and Hunter Longland (220) each contributed wins as well.
Dec. 14: H/B 48, Con-Val 30
The Cavaliers improved to 2-0 on the season, getting pin victories from Zach McPherson (120), Will Labadie (132), Casey Quinn (160), Austin Bumpus (182) and Zach Migneault (285).
