BOYS BASKETBALL
Dec. 16: Coe-Brown 63, Hollis/Brookline 55
James Wilson scored a team-high 17 points in the Cavaliers loss to the Black Bears in the opening game for both schools on Friday in Northwood.
Connor Walsh also hit for double figures, finishing with 10 points, while Shea Wayland added eight points in the loss.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Dec. 16: Hollis/Brookline 60, Coe-Brown 54
Olivia Gillis had 17 points and Ellie Flaum came off the bench to chip in with 13 points to help lead the Cavaliers to a home victory over the Black Bears (2-1) on Friday.
Katie Stopera also had 13 points in the win for the Cavaliers (2-0) while Kellie Messer and Amanda Balsamo came off the bench and played well in crucial parts of the contest.
WRESTLING
Dec. 17: H/B 3rd at Big Red
Hollis/Brookline finished third in the team standings at the Big Red Invitational in Tyngsborough, Mass., on Saturday.
Casey Quinn (160 pounds) and Nate Ashe (182) led the way with individual titles for the Cavaliers. Quinn beat Luke Nigro of Burlington, Mass., in the finals by a score of 7-2 and earned the Outstanding Wrestler Award for the upper weights. Ashe pinned Tom Gleason of Pelham for first place.
Zach Migneault (285) placed second, falling to Nick Ricker of Marshwood, Maine, 1-0. Jake McPherson (138) placed third. Jonathan Lopez (106), Kyle Ducharme (113), Zach McPherson (120), Ryan Ahlquist (126), Zach Jennings (145), Austin Bumpus (170) and Hunter Longland (220) each posted wins for H/B as well.
HOCKEY
Dec. 17: H/B 12, Inter-Lakes/Moultonborough 3
Riding a seven-goal first-period wave, the Cavaliers won in a rout Saturday. Honza Havlena led the onslaught with five goals, Tom Johnson had a pair of goals, Ian Rowe, Griffin Brown, Jack Collins and Cam Ricard each had one. Collins also had three assists, Brown had two and Ricard had one.
Zack Rotkiewicz had three assists, Kyle Berman had two, Tim Burch had two, Jake Kobylarz, Max Donahue, Simon Campbell, Chris Brown and Will Holmes each had one.
GIRLS TRACK
Dec. 18: Cavs take seventh
Nashua South came in fifth with 29 points and Hollis/Brookline was seventh with 16 at Sunday’s evening session at UNH.
H/B’s Emma Newton won the 1,000, finishing in 3:10.7. Meghan Philpot was second in the 3,000 (11:02.4) while Emily Benz finished fifth (11:43) and Cailie Kern took fourth in the long jump (15-31⁄2).
