BOYS BASKETBALL
Jan. 6: HB 61, Oyster River 37
PJ Flaum came off the bench to score a game-high 19 points and James Wilson added 11 markers to help the Cavaliers (1-3) pick up their first Division II win of the season. Flaum nailed four 3-pointers for HB while Mike Chase added nine points and Connor Walsh and Cam Stapelfield chipped in with six points each. The Cavs led by nine at halftime, but opened the third quarter with an 8-0 to go up 35-18.
HOCKEY
Jan. 7: HB 7, Laconia 0
The Cavaliers scored all seven of their goals in the first period as they improved to 3-2 on the season. Dan Ashe and Honza Havlena scored two goals each in the win. Ian McNamara, Ian Rowe and Matt Mailloux each had one goal for the Cavaliers. Jake Kobylarz had three assists and Tom Johnson added two assists for HB. Tim Birch, Ashe and Mailloux each had an assist. Jake Hahnl and Travis Howard split time between the pipes for the Cavaliers.
WRESTLING
Jan. 4: HB 45, M 21
The Cavaliers improved to 3-1 win pin victories from Kyle Ducharme (113), Zach McPherson (120), Will Labadie (132), Brandon Rocha (152), Casey Quinn (160), and Zach Migneault (285).
Jake McPherson (138), Forrest Coon-Roberts (170), and Nate Ashe (195) each won matches for the Cavaliers as well.
Jan. 7: Cavs eighth at Saratoga (N.Y.) Invite
The Hollis Brookline wrestling team took a road trip over the weekend, traveling to Saratoga Springs, N.Y., where they finished eighth out of 15 teams in the Saratoga Invitational.
Zach Migneault won the 285-pound final in double-overtime over Dan Case of Voorheesville (N.Y.) to claim the lone individual title for HB. Casey Quinn (160 pounds) also made the finals before falling 1-0 to Tyler Silverthorn of General Brown located in Dexter, N.Y. Jake McPherson (138) and Nate Ashe (182) each placed fourth.
Also winning matches for HB were Jonathan Lopez (106), Zach McPherson (120), Ryan Ahlquist (126), Zach Jennings (145), Eli Groves (152), Forrest Coon-Roberts (170) and Hunter Longland (220).
ALPINE SKIING
Jan. 5: HB girls finish third at Crotched Mountain
Skyler Anderson overcame a small mishap on her first run to finish fourth overall and lead the Cavaliers to a third place finish in the Giant Slalom meet held at Crotched Mountain on Thursday.
Brianna Berge was the top local finisher (third overall), which helped Bishop Guertin to a fourth place finish.
On the boys side, Bishop Guertin’s Andrew McCrossan finished first overall while the Cardinals finished fourth in the team competition. Nathan Weisman had a good race for Hollis Brookline.
