GIRLS TRACK
Jan. 15: Cavs run at UNH
The Hollis Brookline girls recorded 18 points to finish eighth in a meet at UNH. Bishop Guertin was first with 64 points.
Meghan Philpot won the 1,000-meter run, finishing with a time of 3 minutes, 6.7 seconds, and teammate Emily Benz took second in the 3,000.
Emma Newton came in third in the 600. Monica Zack placed sixth in the 55 while Felicia Lombardi was sixth in the 1,500.
The Cavs also placed sixth in the 4x400 relay.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Jan. 13: Portsmouth 67, HB 37
The Cavaliers ran into a strong Clippers team on Friday, losing to the undefeated Seacoast squad (6-0) by 30 at home.
Conner Walsh, Cam Staplefeld and Tim Rencken each had six points to for the Cavaliers, now 1-5 on the season.
WRESTLING
Jan. 11: HB 40, Winnacunnet 30
In a big Division II showdown, Hollis Brookline prevailed in Hampton, with pin victories from Tyler Pickard (120), Ryan Ahlquist (126), Nate Ashe (195), Hunter Longland (220) and Zach Migneault (285).
Other victories for the Cavaliers came from Jonathan Lopez at 106 and Casey Quinn at 160.
Jan. 14: Cavs take second
HB recorded 132 points to finish second in the Daniel Gionet Memorial Tournament at Pelham, just 10 points behind Nashua South and two ahead of Westerly, R.I. Zach Migneault won the title at 285 pounds while Forrest Coon-Roberts and Nate Ashe (195) both came in second. Ryan Ahlquist (126) and Jake McPherson (138) both had third-place finishes and the Cavs got fourth-place finishes from Zach Jennins (145) and Hunter Longland (220).
The Cavs also had wrestlers compete in the freshmen state tournament as well. Travis Guthrie place second for the Cavaliers. Andrew Butler and Chris Lazich each placed third and Lucas Cummings placed fourth. Also winning matches for HB were Jake Pickard and Matt Ferenczhalmy.
Jan. 18: HB 48, Alvirne 22
The Cavaliers improved to 5-1 with three forfeit wins and victories on the mat from Jonathan Lopez, Tyler Pichard, Casey Quinn, Zach Jennings, Forrest Coon-Roberts and Austin Bumpus.
The Broncos got wins from John Plante, Josh Metivier, Brendan Smith, Steve Lithtenberg and Tyler Burgess.
BOYS HOCKEY
Jan. 14: HB 9, Pembroke/Campbell 4
The Cavaliers’ Jack Collins had two goals and two assists as they cruised past Pembroke to improve to 4-3. Kyle Berman chipped in with two goals and an assist in the victory. Tim Birch, Ian Rowe, Matt Mailloux, Zack Rolkiewicz and Griffin Brown each tallied a goal for the Cavaliers. Travis Howard had 13 saves in net to record the win.
