Cavs pick up a few wins
In Valley League Youth Hockey action, the Cavaliers Squirt AA team notched two wins over the weekend. In their first matchup against the Andover Squirt Team, the Cavs won a hard fought battle 4-2. Heading into the final period even at 1-1, the Cavs started moving the puck, adding three tallies to the sheet. The Cavs offensive efforts was spread across the two front lines, with goals recorded by TJ Vitullo, Isaac Rogers, Austin Ciszek and Brandon Hugh, with fellow forward linemates Max Sears and David Wang having excellent games. The Cavs defensemen Anil Rao, Sean Kelly and Ben Goolsby had great games, with goalie Chris Sullivan having a strong showing between the pipes.
In their second game, the Cavs faced an excellent Methuen Squirt Team. Trailing at the end of the first period 1-0, it seemed as though the Cavs could not beat a tough Methuen goalie. The Cavs got things moving in the second on a nice goal by Isaac Rogers. The Cavs kept the pressure on in the third period, with goals by Austin Ciszek and Max Sears, which came with 56 seconds off a break out pass from TJ Vitullo. Brandon Hugh, David Wang, Anil Rao, Ben Goolsby and Sean Kelly turned in excellent performance keeping the Methuen team from generating any momentum in the final two periods, while goalie Chris Sullivan record another big win.
In a battle for second place in Valley League Youth Hockey, the Cavs came up with a big win over the Triton Viking Squirt team 5-4. The game was a back and forth battle, tied 2-2 at the end of one and 3-3 at the end of the second. But the Cavs jumped out to a two-goal lead in the third and seemed to have the game in hand when the Vikings stormed back and netted one with 54 seconds remaining.
With the Vikings goalie pulled, the Cavs held off a final push and nearly netted an empty netter at the buzzer. TJ Vitullo (two goals), Parker Mabbett (one goal), Max Sears (one assist), Isaac Rogers (one goal), Brandon Hugh (one goal) and Austin Ciszek (two assists) did an excellent job moving the puck. The Cavs defensemen Sean Kelly, David Wang, Anil Rao and Chris Sullivan played a tight game preventing the Vikings from generating much offense in the third, while goalie Ben Goolsby came up big with several key saves.

GSBL logo contest
Do you have what it takes to create a new logo for Granite State Over-30 Baseball League? As part of the GSBL’s 20th year celebration, the league is paying $100 for a new logo. The winning logo will be selected by the league board from all submissions, and in the case of a tie, the executive board will decide. The creator of the winning submission will receive $100 in cash as payment for the logo. The new logo doesn’t have to contain the wording “The Granite State Over-30 League” but should at least say “GSBL” if the full league name is not incorporated into the logo. The new logo is encouraged to be in the tradition of existing red, white and blue league logos, if possible (see examples at www.gsbl.net), but it can deviate from the traditional elements, if necessary. Only the winning submission will become property of the league. Logo submissions should be made by April 7 by sending the logo as an e-mail attachment to saraceno21@aol.com (in 3 different sizes if possible, small, medium and large). Please let John Saraceno know if you have any questions at saraceno21@aol.com or by calling 571-8361.
