ALPINE SKIING

Jan. 16: Cavs come up short

The HB girls team finished behind Bow, Belmont, Gilford and Bishop Brady in a five-team meet at Gunstock Mountain. Skye Anderson led the Cavaliers with an eighth-place finish, while Lori Lavey was 18th and Kelsey Tulley came in 10th.

The HB boys finished third overall, with Evan Cooke taking first in the boys competition. Pat Doyle finished seventh and Nathan Weisman was 19th.

Jan. 19: Boys take first, girls second

The HB boys team took first-place and the girls finished second at a four-team meet at Crotched Mountain. Evan Cooke finished first for the boys while Nathan Weisman came in third and Chris Hyde took fifth. Pat Doyle also finished seventh for the Cavs.

The girls got a first-place finish from Skye Anderson while Kelsey Tulley was seventh and Emily Choate came in eighth. Haley Farwell took ninth for HB.

BOYS HOCKEY

Jan. 21: HB 8, Souhegan 5

Griffin Brown and Jack Collins each had two goals to help the Cavaliers hand Souhegan its first Division III loss of the season.

Jake Hahnl made 30 saves in net for HB (6-3) while Honza Havlena (two assists), Ian Rowe (assist) and Cam Ricard also had a goal apiece.

Stevie Upton led the Sabers (7-1-1) with two goals and two assists while Conor Casey had a goal and three assists and Ben Ehrlich added three helpers. Mike Hayden and Joe Stacy also scored for Souhegan while goalie Ryan Peterson made 21 saves.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Jan. 24: HB 41, Milford 26

Ellie Flaum had 15 points and Katie Stopera added eight as the Cavaliers stayed unbeaten at 9-0, jumping out to an 11-1 lead.

Dina Pitsas led Milford (3-7) with 17 points while Bri Hoffman added six.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Jan. 20: Hanover 63, HB 48

Cam Stapelfeld scored nine points in the Cavaliers (1-6) road loss to the Marauders (7-0) on Friday in Hanover.

Cole Gallant and Tim Rencken each added eight points for the locals while Kyle Gervais had five.

WRESTLING

Jan. 18: HB 48, Alvirne 22

The Cavaliers improved to 5-1 with three forfeit wins and victories on the mat from Jonathan Lopez, Tyler Pichard, Casey Quinn, Zach Jennings, Forrest Coon-Roberts and Austin Bumpus.

The Broncos got wins from John Plante, Josh Metivier, Brendan Smith, Steve Lithtenberg and Tyler Burgess.

Jan. 21: HB unbeaten

The Cavaliers improved to 8-1 on the season, with wins over Salem, Bishop Guertin and Pelahm. Jonathan Lopez (106), Tyler Pickard (120), Jake McPherson (138), Zach Jennings (145), Casey Quinn (160), Forrest Coon-Roberts (170), Hunter Longland (220), and Zach Migneault (285) each won at least two matches on the day for the Cavaliers, who visit Milford Wednesday for a tri-meet with Spaulding.

The Cardinals lost to Salem and Hollis Brookline, 45-35 and 53-21 respectively, but downed Pelham, 36-27, in a quad meet.

Ryan Szcygielski went 1-2 on the day at 113, Cole Fokas 2-1 at 120, Kyle Cushion 1-1 at 126, Brandon Levesque 3-0 at 132, Nelson Millett 1-2 at 145, Nick Christie 3-0 at 160, John Fagan 3-0 at 195, Brian Fenn 2-1 at 220, and Will Cavalier 2-1 at 285.

TRACK

Jan. 23: Qualifier meet

In the boys morning session at the University of New Hampshire on Sunday, Souhegan’s Chris Chininis qualified in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.60, finishing third overall. He was also fourth in the long jump at 19 feet, 5.75 inches. Bert Deforest won the 300 meters in 1:29.50.

Jacob Kittredge was second in the 1,000 meters in 2:38.40 while Tanner Kent (2:39.40) and Nathan Kittredge (2:39.70) finished fourth and fifth. Souhegan won the 4x160 relay in 1:17.10. and was second in the 4x400 relay in 3:40.70.

Souhegan’s Andi Coates won the high jump (6-2), topping Milford’s Parker Lyttle and Jarad Asselin (both 6-0). Souhegan’s Dennis Elverson was third in the 300-meter dash in 38.40. Eli Moskowitz was second in the 1,500 meters in (4:17.20). Ryan Hinrichs was third in the 3,000 meters in 9:32.10.

For the girls, Milford’s Rachel White won the long jump (15-07.50). White (7.30) and Jessica Krafft (7.70) finished fourth and fifth in the 55-meter dash with both qualifying.

In the 1,500 meters, Hollis Brookline’s Meghan Philpot won in 4:57.60 while teammate Emma Newton took second in 5:00.40. Emily Benz was fifth in 5:21.40. Souhegan’s Sarah Hurd tied for third in the high jump (4-10.00). Milford’s Morgan Andrews was third in the shot put at 32-08.25.
