Handful of Cavs heading to D-II track meet
Friday, February 3, 2012
The Super Bowl isn’t the only championship event featuring a local team Sunday.
The high school indoor track teams from Milford, Souhegan, Hollis Brookline and Bedford will make the trip to Hanover to compete in the Division II championship meet at Dartmouth College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
While the Souhegan boys and the Bedford girls aren’t the favorites to bring home titles, they have to be considered one of the favorites.
Souhegan, which won its first indoor title two years ago, is led by a deep group of distance runners, including Tanner Kent and Jacob Kittredge, both of whom are qualified in for individual events. The Sabers also have someone qualified in every event, including all three relays.
Bedford is in a similar position, with someone qualified in every event except the 600-meter run. Leading the way for the Bulldogs are Johanna Celli, Jenny Mara and Hannah Zeltner.
Following are all the local runners who have qualified for the meet, with their event and seed in parentheses.
