Scouts create quilts to keeps Haitians cozy
Thursday, June 24, 2010
MILFORD – Girls from Girl Scout Troop 12687 recently joined with the First Congregational Church,10 Union St., to work on a quilting project for Haiti. The quilts the Scouts pieced together will be added to about 20 quilts being sent to Haiti from the church’s Quilting Ministry.
The ministry began in January through the efforts of many of the women, friends and youth of the First Congregational Church. This particular quilting project will end with a special blessing, performed by Rev. Dr. Sheila Rubdi during the 10 a.m. church service Sunday, June 27.
During this time, all quilts will be presented to a member of the Haitian Community Office in Manchester. The quilts will be added to a cargo bin and shipped to Haiti.
For more information, call the church office at 673-3713.
