Special to the Cabinet

All breads (and more) can be made with virtually no work and no messy counters to clean up. Learn the secrets at the Amherst Town Library when Denali Delmar presents the “No Knead Miracle Bread Workshop” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, in the Johnson Meeting Room.

This workshop is part of the library’s adult evening series of programs in January and February with the theme of “The Human Spirit: Adventures and Challenges.” Delmar, a professional bread baker, will teach you how to make artisan bread in your home. Time does all the work. Denali has improved and expanded on Jim Lahey’s method that was popularized by The New York Times in 2006.

Come enjoy samples of a variety of loaves while you learn the three simple steps to making this bread, created to fit into the busiest of schedules.

“I fell in love with bread baking at first loaf,” said Denali, who crafted her first loaf in college and has been baking ever since. She ran a successful bread bakery in Westford, Mass., for 10 years and has perfected her own no-knead method for making artisan loaves at home. She has a passion for teaching and bread baking, and she will send you off with a wealth of information and recipes.

This workshop is free and open to the public. However, registration is required for this program due to space limitations. You can register for this program or any one of “The Human Spirit: Adventures and Challenges” series programs for adults by calling 673-2288, e-mailing library@amherst.lib.nh.us or visiting www.amherst.lib.nh.us and selecting “Calendar of Events.”

Other programs in “The Human Spirit: Adventures and Challenges” series at the Amherst Town Library include: “What Endures: A Literary Discussion Series” on Wednesday, Jan. 31, and Wednesday, Feb. 15; “Button Up NH” Weatherization Workshop on Thursday, Feb. 2; “Adding Years to Your Life and Life to Your Years: A Roadmap to Enhance Longevity and Wellness” on Tuesday, Feb. 7; “It’s Not About the Hike” on Tuesday, Feb. 21; and “Exploring America’s Tackiest Tourist Photos With Humorist Darren Garnick” on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

All programs will run from 7-8:30 p.m.
