Nature photographer’s work on display at Amherst Town Library

Thursday, November 15, 2012

AMHERST – The Amherst Town Library is hosting a Nature at your Doorstep exhibit this month, featuring an intimate view of a New Hampshire garden and surrounding locales.

Sherie Dowsett will show her nature photography of some of New Hampshire’s backyard wildlife. Dowsett came to the United States from England in 1994 after working as a dentist in her home country for a number of years. She moved to Amherst five years ago.

Dowsett’s interest in photography began with her travels to Central and South America, New Zealand, the wilds of Alaska, and beyond. Through her photography, Dowsett has fostered a deep affection for the natural world and finds the experience inspiring and humbling.

At her home, Dowsett has encouraged a wildlife haven by planting native shrubs and choosing a flower-laden meadow over a manicured lawn. Dowsett has a fondness for all wildlife, but birds hold her greatest fascination.

The exhibit is on the main floor of the Amherst Town Library. For more information about Dowsett, visit sheriedowsett
