Library hosts talk on Pakistan

AMHERST – Dr. Stephen Young will discuss “The Geography of Pakistan and Afghanistan: Understanding the Background of Conflict” at the Town Library at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 7.
The talk is part of a new series for adults called “Looking at the World: Connections and Differences.”
Young is from the Department of Geography at Salem State University and will provide a geographic background to the region to help people better understand the complexity of involvement there.
Young is a former chair of the Department of Geography at Salem State University, where he focuses on remote sensing, vegetation change and the geography of Asia.

The next program in the “Looking at the World” series is “Perspectives on Arab Culture” (a New Hampshire Humanities Council-funded presentation) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 19.
