“Night of a Thousand Puppets” fundraiser at Mariposa Museum, Peterborough on March 30

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Saturday, March 30 at 7 p.m., the Mariposa Museum, 26 Main Street in
Peterborough, will host its annual spring fundraiser, “Night of a Thousand Puppets.” The event will culminate in the silent auction that began March 16, of hand puppets – some whimsical, some historical, some hysterical, all made by 35 noted artists throughout the region.

The puppets are on display in the Mariposa’s windows and on its website, www.mariposamuseum.org.

Also that evening, Scott Gardner, director of the new Phoenix Marionette Theater, will provide a prelude to their new production, “Aladdin and the Lamp of Dreams,” premiering on April 12. Middle Eastern savories, sweets, wine and punch – called “Punch and Foody” – will be served, and a smattering of surprise items will also be auctioned.

Admission to the event is $25 person, $40 a couple. Reservations in advance at admin@mariposa
museum.org or 924-4555.

Profits from the fundraising event will support all of the Mariposa’s education programs. The Mariposa is wheelchair accessible.
