Boy Scout Troop 424, chartered by Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Merrimack, recently had its fifth Scout earn the rank of Eagle in 2009. The rank of Eagle is the highest rank award in Boy Scouting. Brady Page, Stephen Mroz, Dominick DeFrancisco, John Sween and Andy Larvia all completed projects to benefit nonprofit agencies in town. Brady and Stephen’s projects benefited the Horse Hill Nature Preserve by providing a bridge over wetlands and a new trail around wetlands. Dominick’s project, a cement foundation for a new shed, benefited St. John Neumann Catholic Community. John worked on revitalizing the bathhouse at Wasserman Park, and Andy created a natural playground, complete with tables and benches, at Thorntons Ferry Elementary School.
Each Scout also had to demonstrate leadership and earn a minimum of 21 merit badges in order to earn the rank of Eagle.
