Village to conduct line flushing

Friday, September 28, 2012

The Merrimack Village District will flushing mainlines and hydrants in the following areas from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, through Friday, Oct. 5:

Baboosic Lake Road, Bean Road, Carter Road, Cobblestone Place, Draycoach Court, Dwyer Street, French Court, Hitchinpost Lane, Jefferson Drive, Lincoln Court, Longa Road, Mayhew Road, Meadowview Lane, Merrymeeting Road, Parker Drive, Profile Drive, Samuel J. Drive, Scenic Vista Way, Shore Drive, Steeplechase Drive, West Road, Westcott Road, Woodbine Lane and Woodward Road.

Streets in the vicinity of these areas may be affected. Flushing is done to maintain water quality throughout the distribution system.

This program involves opening flushing valves to create increased water flows, which dislodge and clean out naturally occurring sedimentation in the pipelines. It may cause minor flooding of streets and slight discoloration of water and/or a short period of low pressure. The Merrimack Village District would like to reassure customers that the water is safe to drink and any discoloration should clear up in two to three hours.

Residential customers with special water needs for medical reasons are urged to call the district office at 424-9241, ext. 100, to be notified in advance of flushing in their area.
