Students ace spelling bee

Merrimack Middle School hosted its annual Watkins Spelling Contest on January 8, 2013. The following students were team winners and participated in the final contest: Stephen Licata, Nick Marcus, Colin Wandell, Jolie Jacoby, Maddison Kelly, Brittany Herrmann, and Euan Sargant. The first place winner was Maddison Kelly. On March 2, Maddison will go on to participate in the Regional Spelling Bee at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord, NH. Contest runners-up were Nick Marcus (second place), Stephen Licata (third place), and Brittany Herrmann (fourth place). All contestants received cash prizes and gift cards, contributed by the Watkins Trust.
