Keene hosts annual academic conference

KEENE – Keene State College’s 13th annual Academic Excellence Conference took place on April 6.

This student professional conference is designed to showcase the academic work of Keene State students and the collaborative work between students and faculty. It allows students to share excellent work with a broad audience, and prepares them for submitting proposals to professional conferences.

Local student participants were:

FROM BEDFORD: Kelly O’Rourke presented on Making New Molecules! The Synthesis of Novel Metal Catalysts; William Pearson presented on Rebuilding Bosnia Through Education and Advocacy; Darek Robertson presented on Prevention and Application Strategies of Diabetes in Sport and Physical Education Settings.

FROM HOLLIS: Alexander Davis presented on Composition and Movement: A Collaboration.

FROM MERRIMACK: Melissa Dugan presented on Supply and Demand: Shifting Gas Prices One Day at a Time, 1985-2012; Patricia Robinson presented on Flip This House: From Student Housing to Workforce Housing in Keene, New Hampshire.

FROM NASHUA: Elizabeth Amaral presented on Successfully Integrating and Appropriately Using Technology in the Elementary Mathematics Classroom; Shallyne Baez presented on Beauty in the Backroads; Alex Chrusciel presented on Walk This Way: The Healthiest Community Initiative; Ashley Clarke presented on Addressing Food Insecurity: Helping Young Students Grow Food Hydroponically; Michael McGuinness presented on Population Genetic Structure of a Marine Intertidal Alga in California and the Channel Islands; Kristina Sargent presented on Extreme Makeover Marlboro Street Edition: Problems and Prospects of Marlboro Street in Keene, New Hampshire; Lauren Weiner presented on Practice and Performance Considerations for the Solo Singer.
