Girl Scouts set to host Barbie event

Friday, August 8, 2014

BEDFORD – Calling all girls: Did you know that Barbie has had almost 150 careers since 1959? Girl Scouts and Mattel want girls to know they can be anything and do everything. Visit the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains’ Bedford headquarters, One Commerce Drive, from 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, to learn more about Girl Scouting and meet women from different careers. Discover Barbie’s newest career adventure and see the brand-new Barbie.

This Barbie “I can be” event is $10 per girl at the door. Bring a friend, and she gets in free. Girls can participate in dance and fitness classes and meet a marine biologist, a doctor, a pilot, a children’s book author, an engineer, race-car driver Taylor Martin, and more. Receive a Barbie booklet, patch and tote bag, and enter a drawing to win a Barbie-themed door prize. Refreshments will be served.

This is a “drop-in” event and you don’t have to be a Girl Scout. Adult supervision is required; there is no charge for adults. Questions? Call Nicole Nolan at 627-4158, ext. 4142 or email nnolan@girlscoutsgwm.org.
