SWIMMING
JAN. 2: TOMAHAWKS
SWIM AT UNH
The Merrimack High School swim team compete at the Oyster River Holiday Invitational on Saturday at the University of New Hampshire against Derryfield, Dover, Exeter, St. Thomas and Oyster River.
Chloe Davis had the lone first-place finish for the Tomahawks, winning the 100 backstroke and coming in third in the 200 freestyle. Jackie McLavey came in third in the 100 backstroke and Jordan Tierney was second in the 50 freestyle and fifth in the 500 freestyle. Jackie Yeaton came in third in the 100 butterfly and also teamed with McLavey, Jessica Naber and Katie Nagy to place third in the 200 medley relay.
Matt Sexton led the boys, setting a school record in the 100 butterfly (59.97 seconds) to finish second, and was also third in the 200 freestyle. Travis Pozzetta was second in the 50 freestyle and took fourth in the 100 backstroke. Pozzetta, Sexton, Michael Kautz and Jon Kenna came in second in the 200 freestyle relay while Pozzetta, Sexton, Kenna and Drew Harthcock came in second in the 400 freestyle relay.

Eric Watson scored six of his 20 points on two big 3-pointers in overtime as the visiting Tomahawks raised their record to 2-0. Demetri Floras had 20 points, 18 in the second half. The Blue Hawks (0-2) hit a buzzer-beating half court shot to send the game into overtime tied at 57.
