JAN. 12
BOYS BASKETBALL:
MERRIMACK 53, CENTRAL 43
Dmitri Floras netted five 3-pointers en route to a team-high 19 points as the visiting Tomahawks raised their record to 4-0 in Class L. Eric Watson scored 13 and Tyler Gendron scored nine of his 11 points in the first half, after which Merrimack led, 29-18.
GIRLS BASKETBALL:
CENTRAL 45, MERRIMACK 20
The Tomahawks fell to 2-4 in Class L after being blanked 16-0 in the first quarter in Merrimack. Ashley Darling had eight points and Rachael Carter seven to lead the locals.
JAN. 9
SWIMMING:
’HAWKS GIRLS WIN TWO
Jordan Tierney won both the 200-meter IM and the 100 freestyle in helping Merrimack to a good day in Portsmouth.
Rebecca Jolly added a win in the breaststroke and finished second in the 50 freestyle, while Kara Jolly finished second in the 100 backstroke.
Jackie Yeaton finished second in the 100 fly stroke, and the 200 medley relay team comprised of Tierney, Yeaton, and the two Jollys posted a victory.
WRESTLING:
MERRIMACK WINS THREE
Competing in the Concord Tournament, the Tomahawks defeated Keene 47-19 and Central 48-33, while registering the school’s first shutout in history with a 66-0 whitewashing of Spaulding where every match ended in a pin.
Against Keene, Tyler Baulier pinned Jeff Kissell at 215 pounds, while Elias Kim impressed in a loss at 135, hanging with the state’s top-ranked wrestler in that class.
Against Central, Mike Trask, one of the top-ranked wrestlers at 125, handily dispatched another top-ranked wrestler in Jesse Therrien, 16-6.
JAN. 8
BOYS BASKETBALL:
MERRIMACK 66, TIMBERLANE 45
Dmitri Floras led three Merrimack players in double figures with a game-high 21 points. Travis Maser added 16 points while Eric Watson had 12 in the win.
GIRLS BASKETBALL:
TIMBERLANE 51, MERRIMACK 46
Rachael Carter led the Tomahawks with a game-high 22 points, while Kate Cole scored 12 and Maycie Whelan added eight in defeat.
JAN. 6
WRESTLING:
PINKERTON 36, MERRIMACK 31
Mike Trask (125 pounds) and Tyler Baulier (285) recorded pins, but the Tomahawks came up five short in a home loss to the Astros.
JAN. 5
BOYS BASKETBALL:
MERRIMACK 73, EXETER 70 (0T)
Eric Watson scored six of his 20 points on two big 3-pointers in overtime as the visiting Tomahawks raised their record to 2-0.
Dmitri Floras had 20 points, 18 in the second half. The Blue Hawks (0-2) hit a buzzer-beating half court shot to send the game into overtime tied at 57-57.
GIRLS BASKETBALL:
MERRIMACK 44, EXETER 33
The Tomahawks evened up their record (2-2) after defeating the visiting Blue Hawks (1-3).
Ashley Darling stood out on both ends of the floor, leading the team with 14 points and 10 steals while also grabbing eight rebounds. Rachael Carter also scored in double figures with 13 points.
