Comedy night to benefit lacrosse
Thursday, March 11, 2010
An all-star night of comedy will be held to benefit Merrimack lacrosse programs.
Las Vegas performer and New England headliner George Hamm and Comedy Central’s Harrison Stebbins and Ryan Gartley will be at Alpine Grove in Hollis.
The comedy night will be March 27 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased in advance by contacting Karen Shaw at 424-6402 or e-mailing mlacrossefund@comcast.net.
“We held a similar event last year and it was great,” said Shaw, who is organizing the show. “We had a great crowd and the comedians were excellent so we are hoping the parents as well as the public will turn out again.”
The three comedians are well-established and lay claim to an impressive list of credentials.
George Hamm’s irreverent and sarcastic view of the world is well-known to comedy fans nationwide, as he has performed in Las Vegas, in Los Angeles, at The Comedy Store and the Laugh Factory in Hollywood and the Laugh Factory in Hawaii. Hamm has appeared on “Last Comic Standing” and when home in New England, he is one of the top headliners in the region.
Stebbins is the type of comedian who captures his audiences and will not allow them to escape until he has completed his rampage through much of society’s quirks and eccentricities.
Stebbins is a high-energy, no-holds-barred comedian who utilizes improvisation, crowd interaction, sarcasm and charisma. His unique blend of high-energy physical comedy and clever insights, keeps an audience laughing long after he has left the stage.
Gartley is a 10-year veteran of the Boston comedy scene, having played virtually every major club in the region as well as having worked colleges and lounges across the country. Gartley has been a semi-finalist in both the Boston and the Portland comedy festivals, and he has opened for national acts such as Jeff Dunham, Steven Wright and Lenny Clarke. With his quick, critical observations and witty humor Gartley made a name for himself as one of the hardest working acts in the business.
