Quarterback Club welcomes freshmen parents
The Merrimack High School Quarterback Club will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, Sept. 7 in Room 202 at the high school at 7 p.m. All parents of players are encouraged to attend.
Bulldogs edge out Cardinals Jr. Pee Wee
The Merrimack Cardinals Jr. Pee Wee Football team was defeated by the Bedford Bulldogs in overtime during their first game of the season; with a final score of 7-14. Joe Eichman scored the lone touchdown during the fourth quarter and Ryan Fournier ran in the extra point. Eichman also had an interception with a gain of 20 yards for the Cardinals. On defense, Nathan Kennedy, Matthew Smith, Nick Marchand, and Christian Hyatt broke through the Bulldogs’ offensive line, pushed them out of bounds and made several tackles in the backfield.
Merrimack Cardinals Tiny Mite Red team
The Merrimack Cardinals Tiny Mite red team led by Coach Christian Parzych kicked off their regular season Sunday, Aug. 29, with a heart-pounding game against the Bedford Bulldogs. The team fought hard during both halves and had some memorable defensive tackles made by Brett Michalewicz and Jake Trahan. The offensive line showed off their speed with terrific runs by Justin Fournier and Aidan Parzych. The team will resume its schedule Sept. 12 in an away game against a yet-to-be determined team from Massachusetts.
Tough Opener for Merrimack Pee Wees
The Merrimack Cardinals Pee Wee Football Team suffered a loss against the Bedford Bulldogs in their season opener. With 90-plus degree weather the team entered their first game with lots of water and high hopes. However, the team ended the game with a 26-0 final score. The team captains for the day were Kyle Newman, Michael DeFelice, Jason Theriault and Connor Vance. The defense was led by two fumble recoveries by Gregory Walters and several great defensive plays by Daniel McKillop. Tyler Deneill and Andrew Dichard both helped the offense with good runs for the Cardinals.
