FOOTBALL
MITEY MITES: Merrimack 26, Bedford 7
In the season opening game, the Merrimack Cardinals Mitey Mites beat the Bedford Red. Offensively, the Cardinals got touchdown runs from Patrick Yudkin, Jared Dyer, Adam Thornton and Jay Lanigan. Thomas Prentice, Robert Defelice, and Kaiden Orme blocked well on the offensive line.
Defensively, Hayden Mose, Justin Tevepaugh, Ben Eichman and James Dowling prevented Bedford from gaining yardage on the field. Zac Twadowsky made a great tackle at Bedford’s 5 yard line to to prevent a touchdown. On special teams Tim Eckert kicked and recovered the ball.

Travel basketball for fifth-grade boys
Merrimack fifth-grade boys travel basketball tryouts will be Sept. 27 and 30 from 6-8 p.m. at James Mastricola Upper Elementary School. For more information or questions, contact Charlie at 424-2556 or m.skyhawks@gmail.com
HORSESHOES
Merrimack Legion horseshoes tournament
The Joe Henault horseshoe league is sponsoring a tournament at the American Legion pits on Baboosic Lake Road in Merrimack. Registration is at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18. Partners will be chosen by “Luck of the draw” and all proceeds from the $10 fee will be donated to the American Cancer Society, The public is invited.
The league has just finished another great season with up to 35 pitchers competing. Al Lewis won the “Most Ringers” and the “Best Won-loss Record.” John Dilger was about to claim the “Most Ringers” title until his season ending injury.
The end of season tournament was won by the team of Coutemarche/Burke outscoring Silva/Hill.
