A shared mess

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Here is something Rep. Frank Guinta included in an op-ed piece published last week in the Merrimack Journal. He, or a member of his staff, more likely, was writing about the two job fairs Guinta hosted recently (job fairs for which we applauded him and we applaud him again):

“Nearly 400 job seekers attended both events, people who are unemployed or underemployed, and who are eagerly looking for new opportunities. One man told me he has been out of work for three years. Think about that for a minute; the last time he got a paycheck was 2008.”

That’s awful, but we’re certain that Guinta would love to blame President Barack Obama for this man’s plight. But unless the man lost his job after the second week of November 2008, then he lost it during the era of President George W. “Tax Cuts for the Rich” Bush and we shouldn’t forget that.

We are not saying that Obama isn’t culpable for the continuing bad economy. He sure is. He has shown a lack of leadership and if he has a plan, well, it must be like Nixon’s secret plan to end the Vietnam War. In other words, no plan.

Let’s just remember that it took the Bush administration to get us into this mess and the Obama administration to keep us here.

Although if the economy is still that bad, you couldn’t tell it by the stock market. Up, up and up some more.

Weird.
