Tax the rich to aid state, country
Friday, November 4, 2011
To the Editor:
The House Republicans in Concord are proposing a constitutional amendment that would prohibit a state income tax. In the future, state revenues could only be increased via higher property taxes or a state sales tax. My alternate suggestion would be to impose a state tax on those with wealth sources greater than $1,000,000 per year.
If there were any verifiable data that the richest were actually job creators in any substantial sense, then that would be the lead story of FOX News every single night of the year. So, when someone says that the idle rich are job creators, they are either misinformed or attempting to mislead the public. The majority of the wealthiest 1 percent experience a carefree life of ease and have never held a job never mind created one.
So let them come to the aid of their state and country in another way.
