Time to donate to Memory Tree

Friday, November 11, 2011

To the Editor:

Sponsored by the Amherst Garden Club, The Memory Tree acts as a remembrance of a loved one to all who have made a donation. This tree, an Amherst tradition dating back to 1995, is located right in the center of town, speaking out with a twinkle to all who pass by. “Remember me, remember the times we shared.”

The Memory Tree will be lighted Friday, Dec. 9, the weekend of the Tree Lighting Festival, and will stay lit through the cold winter nights into January.

Now is the time to send in your donation and names to be remembered.

The money raised in the past has gone to various organizations such as Peabody Mill Environmental Center, Purgatory Watershed Conservancy, Community Hospice House in Merrimack, Steeple Fund/Amherst Congregational Church, Wilton Forest Fund, the Lost Village of Monson and SHARE. We are happy to announce that donations to The Memory Tree 2011 will be going to the Sustainable Garden Program at Amherst Middle School and the rejuvenation of landscaping at Souhegan High School.

The Amherst Garden Club has been a big force behind the beautification of our lovely historic village and surrounding areas.

Please call Judy Smith 673-7937 if you have any questions. Donations ($5 for individual name or $25 for a family) may be sent to “The Memory Tree”/Amherst Gardeners, PO Box 694, Amherst, NH 03031.

Thank you for your support. Stop by and check the tree and sign posted with the names of those being remembered.
