Warmth cancels Ice Fishing Derby

To the Editor:

I regret to inform you that due to poor weather conditions and safety reasons the 2012 Horseshoe Fish and Game Club Ice Fishing Derby will be canceled this year.

In speaking with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Commission, in an event such as ours that draws so many people there is great concern for the safety of the public, to which a mutual decision has been made for the cancellation.

There will be a breakfast and lunch at the club on Saturday, Feb. 18, so we can inform anyone that shows up that we will not be having a derby that day, and that it is in their best interest that they do not venture onto the ice.

I would like to thank our communities’ support over the years in this worthwhile effort that benefits our scholarship fund that helps young people in their desire for education.
