Rollin Joel Haney went to his eternal home in Heaven on March 18, 2010, at the age of 75, surrounded by his loving family at Grant Hospital, Columbus. He was born in Warsaw, Indiana, on February 22, 1935, to Ralph and Mary Haney. His passions included music and sports. A graduate of Manchester College in Indiana, Joel held a Masters degree in music education from The Ohio State University. He touched many lives through his 30 years of directing vocal choirs at Worthington High School in addition to directing numerous church vocal and bell choirs. In retirement, he continued to touch many lives through his involvement in Leap of Faith, a Christian-based dance company in Westerville and other nonprofit organizations. He was an avid sports fan, gardener and master woodworker. He was known for his generous spirit and wisdom, a true role model for others as he lived with integrity and open hands. A member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Worthington, Joel is survived by his wife, Beth, of 54 years; their three children, Susan (Mike) Williford, Dave (Kelley) Haney and Phil (Sharyn) Haney; and their ten grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Bob, Paul and Ben; his sister, Margaret; their spouses; and other family and friends. His life will be celebrated by those who were blessed to love him and be loved by him on Monday, March 22, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, OH 43085. A funeral service, officiated by Pastors Bonnie Gerber and Mike Weaver, was held on Tuesday, March 23, at 1 p.m. at All Saints Lutheran Church, 6770 N. High St., Worthington, OH. Interment followed immediately at Kingwood Memorial Park on State Route 23, north of Worthington.
