Dimitri Floras learned the results of an MRI on Monday and does have a broken bone in his right wrist, but hasn’t ruled out returning to action in time for the tournament.

Floras suffered the injury taking a fall in last Tuesday night’s game with Keene.

“They are saying five weeks, but it’s already been one,” Floras said at practice on Monday. “I’m hoping, with physical therapy, to be back in time for the Central game at the end of the season.”

The Tomahawks – who lead Division I with a 8-1 mark – defeated Londonderry on Tuesday and host Nashua South (5-5) on Friday.

Fellow starter Jared Peobody is also out with a nerve problem in his arm.

Jackson King, a football standout who didn’t play basketball last winter, has stepped into the starting lineup at guard with sophomore Eric Gendron moving to the point and Dylan O’Brien has also moved into a starting role.

“Fortunately we happen to be very deep this year,” Merrimack coach Tim Goodridge said. “Still, it’s tough when you lose the player I consider to be the best play in the state.”

Kyle Richardson, a 6-5 senior out since the pre-season with a knee injury, saw his first action on Friday night.
