Ken Hawkins runs for State Senate

State Rep. Ken Hawkins, R-Bedford, announced his candidacy for the District 9 State Senate seat April 11.

“For the last 2 months, I have been talking with my longtime friends and colleagues in Bedford and across the District. I am so pleased and encouraged with the tremendous support they are giving me to begin my campaign for the District 9 Senate seat.” Hawkins said. “I have lived in Bedford for more than 30 years, and my wife, Joyce, and I have raised our family and enjoyed our grandchildren here. We have always felt that it was important to give back to our community and are very fortunate to have met so many wonderful friends in the many civic and veteran organizations that we have been involved with over the years.”

Hawkins has served in the Bedford citizen legislature for 10 years. He has served as a Republican member of the New Hampshire State House of Representatives from 2002-present. In the 2011-12 legislative season, Hawkins was appointed as the vice chairmen of the Executive Departments and Administration Committee and chairman of the Special Committee Public Employee Pensions Reform.
