Jared Hammer and Liam Ouellette have been named Eagle Scouts in Bedford.

Jared Hammer

Hammer began Scouting when he joined Pack 5 as a Wolf Scout in second grade. Hammer crossed over to Boy Scouts at his Arrow of Light Ceremony on Jan. 8, 2005, joining Bedford Troop 414. For the first few months as a Boy Scout, he worked with the rest of the new Scouts to learn the basics of scouting and earned the rank of Scout on Feb. 17, 2005, and the rank of Tenderfoot on May 12, 2005.

Hammer earned his Second Class rank on Oct. 13, 2005, and First Class on Feb, 6, 2006. He also earned the National Honor Patrol Award as part of the troop’s Panther Patrol. He achieved the rank of Star on Feb. 20, 2007. Throughout Boy Scouts, Hammer earned 21 merit badges. Hammer achieved the Rank of Life on March 13, 2008.

Hammer joined the Senior Patrol as the Troop Quartermaster the following year. He completed his leadership and merit badge requirements for Eagle Scout during the scouting year and at summer camp, and started planning his Eagle Project in May 2011. He chose to build wooden signs and a tool board for Camp Allen for his project. After organizing a fundraiser, he completed his project in October 2011. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout on Nov. 1.

Liam Ouellette

Ouellette began Scouting in second grade as a Cub Scout. He joined Pack 114, and Bruce Thomas became his leader. Cub Scouts Pack 114 was his home until he crossed over Jan. 22, 2005, with the Arrow of Light. Ouellette chose Troop 414 to continue his journey to becoming an Eagle Scout. Climbing, Archery, Auto Maintenance, Wilderness Survival and Hiking merit badges are just some he has earned along the way.

Ouellette started planning his Leadership Service Project in spring 2010. His Eagle Project was the construction of two hexagonal picnic tables for the Bedford Village Commons’ newly opened Community Park on 24 N. Amherst Road in Bedford. The project benefited the town by creating a welcoming place for everyone in the community to come together. Ouellette raised funds for the project, including donations from the Bedford Men’s Club and from a car wash at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish in Bedford. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout on March 7.
