Bedford ambulance involved in crash; road closed for ‘extended period’

BEDFORD – Emergency crews closed a portion of New Boston Road in Bedford on Wednesday after an ambulance was involved in a crash with another vehicle.

A Bedford Fire Department ambulance was involved in the collision, which occurred at about 2:30 p.m. near the intersection with McAllister Road.

The car veered off the road, down a snowbank and smashed into a tree before coming to a rest. There was significant damage to both vehicles as a result of the accident. No one was killed in the incident, officials at the scene said.

Police advised motorists to seek an alternate route through the area, which remained closed for several hours.

Further details were expected to be released later Wednesday night.
