Opening reception for ‘Sunstrokes’ exhibit set for July 16
GOFFSTOWN – Ann Trainor Domingue’s exhibit, titled "Sunstrokes," will be on display at Sullivan Framing and Fine Art Gallery in Bedford through July. Opening reception will be held 6-9 p.m. July 16.
The collection of more than 20 works in various sizes were inspired by her love of gardens and flowers – especially the intense colors they bring to a home or landscape.
"I have always been enamored with how show-stopping a great group of flowers can be. Color and shape combinations just call out to be noticed and that is just what I have tried to do with this show. As painters we each have our own way of seeing and using these visions to create something fresh and new," Domingue’s said.
Her preferred medium is acrylic selected for its fast-drying properties and ability to be modified to achieve various surface effects. This new group of paintings incorporates something new – pieces of fabric to help create surface interest. "My sister-in-law is a wonderful sewer and had a pile of scraps available for the asking. It’s been a fun addition to my painting process and I look forward to continuing with this idea."
Domingue is a Copley Fellow at the Copley Society Gallery on Newbury Street in Boston. She is represented locally by Art3 Gallery in Manchester. Domingue has work on exhibit at Framers Market in Manchester, and Sullivan Framing in Bedford.
