Summerfest Beer Festival and Chicken Wing Showdown set
MANCHESTER – Granite State Brewers Association will host their second annual Summerfest Beer Festival and Chicken Wing Showdown on July 25 at Arms Park.
The festivities begin for VIP ticket holders at noon and general admission is from 1-5 p.m.
The GSBA welcomes more than 34 New Hampshire breweries participating and 10 local restaurants competing in the Chicken Wing Showdown.
The City of Manchester’s Mayor Ted Gatsas, along with a panel of judges, will be deciding the restaurant Showdown winner for 2015.
New England’s Tap House Grille of Hooksett was last year’s Showdown winner. They will be participating again this year in hopes of retaining their title.
This is the second year the Granite State brewers, restaurants, musicians and business sponsors have come together to raise money for New Horizons for New Hampshire.
New Horizons is a leading advocate for the homeless, working in partnership with other organizations to develop programs while encouraging individuals to become self-sufficient. New Horizons operates a soup kitchen, food pantry and provides emergency shelter at 199 Manchester Street and Angie’s Shelter for Women.
"These are very challenging times for so many of our friends and neighbors and it is important that a place like New Horizons exists to provide food and shelter," said Charlie Sherman, Executive Director of New Horizons for New Hampshire.
"To have the opportunity to partner with the Granite State Brewers Association greatly helps our mission," Sherman said.
TI Events and Runners Alley also will be holding a 3- and 6-mile race from 11 a.m.-noon; registered runners will also have VIP entry into the event.
