YWCA of NH will honor Susan B. Anthony Award recipient Oct. 6
MANCHESTER – The YWCA New Hampshire will honor Rashida Mohamed, Manchester Police Department Victim Advocate, as recipient of the 2015 Susan B. Anthony Award at a special awards dinner on Oct. 6 at Southern New Hampshire University.
In announcing this year’s recipient, Annette Escalante, president & CEO, YWCA NH said "The YWCA’s Susan B. Anthony Award recognizes the contributions of outstanding women who exemplify the ideals of Susan B. Anthony and serve as positive role models for women as they work to affect positive change in our state."
Nominated by Manchester Police Department Chief Enoch Willard, Ms. Mohamed has served as an advocate in the Manchester Police Domestic and Sexual Violence Unit since 2010. "Rashida’s greatest strength lies in her ability to provide assistance during the immediate crisis while looking beyond to discover the underlying cause of the issue," said Sgt Paul Thompson, Mohamed’s supervisor on the Manchester Police Force. "She empowers victims and guides them to programs that will assist them in gaining control over all aspects of their life. Her impact on the Manchester Police Department’s Domestic and Sexual Violence Unit is immeasurable."
The event will feature keynote speaker Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, former Lt. Governor of Maryland. Ms. Townsend has a long history of accomplishments in the public arena, including women’s empowerment.
