Bedford gardeners to meet Nov. 16

"Pruning for a Beautiful Backyard" is the subject of a 7:30 p.m. program to be presented by Sarah Benson at the Bedford Garden Club’s Nov. 16 meeting. The event will take place at Bedford’s historic Town Hall, 10 Meetinghouse Road, beginning with a 6:30 p.m. social followed by a 7 p.m. business meeting.

Benson, of the Garden Center at Benson Lumber and Hardware in Londonderry, will review the four basic reasons for pruning: aesthetics, controlling size, eliminating hazards and plant health. She will discuss useful pruning tools, when to prune, and methods of pruning using some examples of different kinds of plants, trees and shrubs.

Join the Bedford Garden Club for this informative meeting. Club meetings are open to the public. The Bedford Garden Club has been serving the Bedford community for 80 years by providing education in horticulture, conservation and gardening matters, and by creating and maintaining public gardens throughout the town.
