Bedford senior completes Eagle Scout project for ASD

The Academy for Science and Design charter school in Nashua recently was the beneficiary of an Eagle Scout project.

Colin Goldberg, an ASD senior and member of Boy Scout Troop 5 in Bedford, presented a portable lab cart to ASD on Oct. 29 as his Eagle Scout service project. Goldberg designed it over the course of last year based on teacher input, using CAD. he raised the $600 needed to build the cart by holding a book sale, and spent about 200 hours completing the cart.

Eric Soederberg, president of Sunrise Labs, worked with Goldberg on the project.

Eagle Scout is the highest achievement in the Boy Scouting program, and only a small percentage of Boy Scouts are granted this rank after a lengthy review process. The requirements necessary to achieve this rank often take years to fulfill. In addition to earning at least 21 merit badges, the Eagle Scout must demonstrate Scout Spirit, an ideal attitude based on the Scout Oath and Law, service and leadership.
