Local students to perform in ‘Nutcracker’ with Gate City Ballet
NASHUA – Students from Amherst, Brookline and Merrimack will perform in Gate City Ballet’s beloved holiday classic "The Nutcracker."
Performances will be at 1 and 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, and 1 p.m. Sundy, Dec. 6, at Pinkerton Academy’s Stockbridge Theatre in Derry.
The role of Clara will be performed by eighth-grader Lily MacDonald, of Merrimack.
Sarah Wilson, of Brookline, will perform as Marzipan, waltz of the flowers and Snow, and Emma DiGennaro, of Brookline, will perform as an Angel and Reindeer.
Set to Tchaikovsky’s classical score, step back in time and join Clara and her friends for a holiday party where she receives a special gift from her godfather Drosselmeyer.
Cheer for her and her nutcracker prince in the battle with larger than life mice and toy soldiers.
Then be transported on a magical journey through the dancing snowflakes to the land of sweets where Clara is greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and entertained with a dazzling display of fanciful treats.
Open auditions for Gate City Ballet’s "The Nutcracker" are held annually in September.
Children from various dance studios throughout southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts will participate in the performances.
Tickets are available through the Stockbridge Theatre box office, www.stockbridgetheatre.com and 437-5210.
Tickets are $18, with reduced rates for senior citizens and groups.
