Merrimack to replace two bridges

MERRIMACK – The town of Merrimack has contracted to replace two bridges in Merrimack – McGaw Bridge Road Bridge and Bean Road Bridge, both over the Baboosic Brook.

R.M. Piper of Plymouth is the contractor for the $2.8 million project. Quantum Construction Consultants is the design consultant for the project and will be managing the construction oversight. The project is included in the New Hampshire Department of Transportation State Bridge Aid program, which allows for the town to be reimbursed 80 percent of the cost of the project.

Work is scheduled to begin in December, with project completion expected by November 2016. A detour route for Bean Road was implemented in August when the current bridge was closed because of structural deficiencies. A detour route for the McGaw Bridge Road closure will be set up in the coming weeks.

The Public Works Department will be sending out project updates via email to those interested. If you would like to receive updates, email kfox@merrimacknh.gov with Bridge Update in the subject line to be added to the distribution list.
