High school freshman wins regional idol competition

BEDFORD – Morgane Grace Vigroux, a 14-year-old freshman at Pinkerton Academy in Derry, is the first place winner of the Bedford Rotary Club’s fifth annual Regional Idol Scholarship Competition held at the Dana Center Theater at Saint Anselm College on Jan. 9.

For her rendition of the song "A New Life," from the Broadway musical "Jekyll and Hyde," Morgane was chosen as one of four finalists by a panel of three professional musician and performing art judges. After each of the finalists gave one more performance, the near capacity audience at the Dana Center cast their votes to determine the winner, and it was Vigroux for her sophisticated performance of "Wherever He Ain’t" from the Broadway show "Mack and Mabel."

The three other finalists in the competition were Carly LaPaglia, Andrew Alvarado and Emily Dion.
