Richard Willey, a Labour Junior Minister, plans, under the cover of an all-night commons sitting, to spend the night in Suite 648 at the Westminster Hotel, London, with Jane Worthington, one of the opposition’s junior secretaries. Things start to go disastrously wrong early on; when expecting only to handle Jane’s body, Richard discovers the ‘body’ of a man trapped in the suite’s unreliable sash window. Desperately trying to get out of what has suddenly become an extremely sticky situation, Richard summons his trusty Parliamentary private secretary, George Pigden, to the hotel to sort things out.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. While monologues are not required, if you choose to prepare one, it should be comedic/farcical in nature.

Richard Willey (35-45): Suave and successful business type. Married but that doesn’t stop him with the ladies. Junior Minister in the British Government.

The Manager (45-60): Severe, interfering man whose only concern is the reputation of his hotel and its guests.

The Waiter (55-70): Nimble and wily servant. Will do anything for his guests as long as there is a tip involved.

Jane Worthington (25-35): Attractive but dizzy lady. A secretary at the House of Commons serving the opposition party.

The Body (30-45): Good physicality a must. Moves and gets moved a lot. Falls, hangs and even speaks.

George Pigden (35-45): Nervous assistant to Mr. Willey. Forced to support his boss and the tangled webs they weave.

The Maid (50-65): Italian servant of the hotel. Doesn’t speak or understand English.

Pamela Willey (35-45): Sophisticated wife of Richard Willey. Knows all about his ways.

Gladys (35-45): Bossy and attractive nurse. Takes care of George’s mother.
